CHARLES CARPENTER NAMED PRESIDENT/CEO
Troy, OH – February 16, 2026 – The Board of Directors of Hobart Institute of Welding Technology (HIWT) are pleased to announce the promotion of Charles “Charlie” Carpenter from Vice President/General Manager to President/CEO effective March 1, 2026. This appointment recognizes Charlie’s longstanding commitment to the Institute and his impactful leadership since joining HIWT in 2009.
In his most recent position, Charlie played a pivotal role in expanding HIWT’s global footprint by successfully completing international agreements that established Hobart Institute’s welding training programs and curriculum worldwide. His efforts have helped position HIWT as a leader in welding education on a global scale. Throughout his tenure, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to align welding training solutions with the evolving needs of industry partners, ensuring relevance, quality, and measurable impact. In addition, Charlie has built and developed a highly professional team with a proven record of excellence in quality, performance, and results.
Charlie brings a strong blend of academic, technical, and operational expertise to the President and CEO role. He holds multiple professional certifications, including Certified Higher Education Professional in Leadership, ACCSC Certified Accreditation Professional, AWS Certified Welding Inspector, AWS Certified Welding Supervisor, AWS Certified Welding Educator, and a Level II Radiographer.
As President and CEO, Charlie will report directly to the HIWT Board of Directors and lead the Institute in its mission to develop highly skilled welding professionals worldwide. He will focus on implementing strategic initiatives that strengthen team development, expand and advance the Institute’s product portfolio, and increase HIWT’s reach and impact worldwide.
